Majora’s Mask Skull Kid and Termina Moon Sculptures by Jorge Molina.

I seriously can’t get enough of this guys work. It’s so beautiful and very reasonably priced. He’s an amazing artist.

5 - The Death Quartet

Loss and death are so prevalent in this game, and that’s even before the world is potentially destroyed by the Moon. Majora’s Mask struck me much more as an adult than when I played it as a kid, because I can better understand the concept of inevitable death. In a game centered around time-traveling to continuously fix peoples’ problems, there is a great deal of irrevocable, irreversible loss. The three primary transformation masks are the faces of people who can never return, and they are survived by people who loved them and miss them. All in one game you shoulder the burden of donning the face of the prodigal son destroyed by his reckless curiosity, deceased father who froze trying to save his people and his new baby, and the husband of a new mother who only recently gave birth. That doesn’t even include these four masks: the spirit who couldn’t move on, the face of the awoken dead, the hood of a ghostly race of people consumed by death, and a mask that nearly kills a soldier by making him invisible to anyone without the Lens of Truth.

It’s a pretty heavy game.

Four sets left! See previous sets here (transformation, completionist’s, people, animals)

8 - The Celestial Trio

I put the three of these together because they are masks that you work towards in one way or another but can’t obtain yourself. The Sun and the Moon masks comprise one of the most frustrating quests in the game (as I’ve said). But I like that their fusion, the Couple’s Mask, stands counter to everything that is Majora’s Mask. In the face of utter destruction, Kafei and Anjou are united; love stands tall against the immense chaos of the Moon and Majora.

And Majora’s Mask is the one that inspired the whole series. While looking a a series of Triforce pieces from a different project (to be shared later this week!) I saw Majora’s Mask appear. An interesting journey for me - forcing myself to simplify things, work with color and a bit of lighting in ways I don’t normally. We shall have to see what I can take from this!

Tomorrow, the reveal of them all together! Thanks for bearing with me through all of these mask posts!

Go back through the previous seven here: transformation, completionist’s, people, animals, death, clock town, remains.

Be sure to check them all out!

woodsofmystery:

here are some low quality photos of my majora’s mask, astral observatory inspired bedroom and qr codes. im sure someone else could do a better job on it but this is pretty much my best effort lol

the clock took a while to make tho so look at it

also the reason i made the floor more of a dark blue color scheme is cuz like i tried making it the actual colors of the floor part but it looked too bright, soo.. i decided this was better at conveying the mood or whatever idk

I’m planing on doing a huge series of watercolor paintings involving characters from Zelda games! I did Majora’s mask first because it’s the current game I’m playing, and because I thought it’s design was interesting. I have two others in the works right now, so hopefully this will carry on for a while :DThis image is © to me.
