In regards to the Hyrule/Termina Split…

From greymattersplatter:

In regards to your split-split timeline theory post: first off, beasting imagination. Since the time travel business in SS was so confined (geographically, especially) it never occurred to me that another timeline could have sprung form this game, but inevitably the changes in the past alter the future just a tweak so that an alternate dimension must exist. In both time travel circumstances, Link sealed or defeated Ganon, but I propose that the path in which Link does not seal Demise in the Master Sword resulted in a world without Demise, for until Ghirahim interfered with the timeline by wisking Zelda away to plunder her soul, Demise was buried a whole island deep at the will of the ultimate plot device in the Legend of Zelda Universe — the triumph forks. Therefore, kaput. Q.E.D. This meshes with Termina’s lack of Ganon, but not the succeeding Twilight Princesse’s Twilight realm sealed Ganondorf. This could imply that the timeline splits at Link’s journey into Termina into another dimension that does not affect other games but was influenced by the events of Skyward sword’s Demise destruction timeline.

Thanks for the response. Had a hard time trying to piece it together, but I think I get the jist of it. It’s not your fault; time travel and the Zelda timeline are just generally two very confusing topics, especially when combined.

I believe you said that Twilight Princess wouldn’t cohere because it follows Majora’s Mask in the child timeline, but there was no Ganondorf in Termina. The thing is that Twilight Princess is on the Hyrule timeline, not the Termina timeline. Link supposedly returns to Hyrule after defeating Majora (unless you believe the death theory), thus leading to the events of Twilight Princess on the Hyrule/Child timeline. Or maybe I misread what you said.

Either way, thanks for the insightful input!
